[personal profile] facepalmchampion
⧓ NAME:
Tomura Shigaraki
⧓ CANON:
My Hero Academia
⧓ POWER(s):
All For One (equipped with Search, Super Regeneration, Air Cannon, Radiowaves) & Decay
⧓ FACTION:
ELB - "Equality Before Law"
⧓ ROLE:
One of the almost unknown, co-leaders of the EBL known as “Tomura Shigaraki”. He is only known in this position to people who have even come close to that level of intel who aren’t already trusted within the syndicate. The knowledge is out there, but only in whispers since no one really knows who the heads of EBL are, just that uttering certain names or asking for certain people will garner you wanted, or unwanted, attention.
⧓ AMBITION:
Fight fire with fire and also violence. He wants to tear everything down that is currently in place. It comes from a place of revenge for a fallen friend who’s life was taken in an ambush of a trap. Along the way if he just so happens to find the [people still out there who he hasn’t killed and who are responsible even in the smallest ways], hey. A Plus Ultra.
⧓ BACKSTORY:
For most of his stay, other than having designs on what he wanted to do, he had been doing a whole lot of nothing out of the ordinary for him. His time was mostly taken up doing his job, caring for a stray alley kitten that he nursed back to health and who he named Hana, plotting and staying around with Twice and the various League members, [or other fringe individuals] who might had come along. Things that he found familiar, mostly. Like, for instance, posturing from afar at the people from his home world or things like telling everyone that one day they would see he was right about Heroes and “the powerful”. That he had been saying the whole time to those who weren’t blind enough that this sort of thing was bound to happen. Yes, even here. While he never lost the zest to want to prove to the Pro Heroes around here that he was better than them, even at their own game, that he could end them if the want really struck him, he also had designs on a life of his own and his ultimate goal of killing All Might.

All of which he continued to do from afar until the arrival of Kurogiri. As expected, someone who had a hand in raising him and guiding him much like the Pro Hero teachers do for their students, he was more apt to want to find the same familiarity with his caretaker. Living in the Twin Cities or not, he needed that sort of influence, wanted that sort of influence. It never stopped his old world ambitions or his Mom world suspicion at every time someone else was positioning themselves into a powerful place he needed to renew his warnings, but it also gave him direction. It gave him someone to guide him when he needed directing the most.

After encountering an import with psychic powers, Kurogiri regained his memories of who he was before he was taken in by All For One. At that point, Shigaraki knew he needed to make a decision. He could lose Kurogiri forever, or he could hear him out on the tentative truce that he wanted to navigate the muddy waters of. In a long story short, Shigaraki let the makeshift peace pull itself together, agreeing only if they weren’t attacked in any way, shape or form that he wouldn’t go after at least Kurogiri’s high school friends: Shouta Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada. He never could, or would, promise any differently for the rest of them, however. There was just too much between them, all of them and Kurogiri was the only reason he ever agreed to it.

Shigaraki was the last to join the fighting... technically since he had his own ways of participating with himself and his allies or those [He found along the way] once the fighting started. Only when he realized how serious Kurogiri was about The Resistance did he even lift a finger for it. In some cases, literal fingers but never under their banner and always only when Kurogiri was involved in some way. This lead to Shigaraki, Shouta and Kurogiri falling for a trap that ended the life of the only person able to hold Shigaraki together, able to hold him back. Kurogiri was lost to them. In an attempt to make certain that they didn’t lose a key power in mobility right before Kurogiri died, Shigaraki was asked to use All For One and hand over Warp to Shouta Aizawa. As a dying wish from Kurogiri, Shigaraki accepted and while he had, and has still got reservations, he did eventually give it over to him. Not right away, of course and in fact walked out that very day without his long time friend, long time caretaker and without fulfilling his wishes.

For a long while after, Shigaraki was only bent on chaos, death and revenge. He fiercely protected the people he cared for until his grief ended with him biting off more than he could chew; just to feel like he was avenging what happened. If people were innocent after the fact, he couldn’t care less. The stress bore into him and the fight wore out of him quickly at the rate he was going and the request to give Warp to Aizawa that he had refused to do hung heavy on him. Eventually in his grief, everything began to get to him and he had to make a hasty retreat back to the Twin Cities to regroup his mind and to be around people who cared about him and didn’t want to see him die needlessly. Anyone along the way that he could get his hands on who were involved, even by just association and including members of The Resistance were met with untimely demise, you know, as a treat. Even feeling as tired and hurt as he was, Shigaraki wanted to spill the blood of [the people who killed Kurogiri] and there are still those, to this day [whom he hasn’t killed yet].

Finally deciding that the nagging ghost in his head wasn’t worth the nightmares, that the voice telling him he wasn’t doing something that Kurogiri had wanted enough for it to be a dying wish also got to him. He agonized for a few more days that Kurogiri wouldn’t steer him wrong, he hadn’t when he had first introduced him to Toga and Dabi, he hadn’t his whole life and so he knew what he had to do. Alerting those he needed to, and asking Twice (‘s double) to feed his cat, he went looking for Aizawa. Not hard when AFO also begifted him with the ability of Search. It was then that they formed their alliance and also at that time he solidified it by making sure to hand off Warp and, essentially, Kurogiri to a sworn enemy and dubiously tentative ally. On that day EBL was formed in its infancy and while he flew under the banner of EBL, that didn’t mean he had the same ideas on how to work toward this shared goal. Shigaraki, Shouta Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada by extension were all having to learn to work together efficiently and with equality in mind. If there was to be something done and continued in Kurogiri’s name, Shigaraki wanted part of it and wouldn’t be swayed away by anyone about it. Not even by the sickening feeling of working with Heroes so that he wouldn’t lose anyone else he loved without having done everything he could.

Along the way he collected [powerful and dangerous people] all varying from people with abilities, to people who were just plain powerful and dangerous and however willing to bend to his control. He was apt already in knowing how to do this and knew better how to command vicious people who had at least some sense of wanting to belong to something bigger, give their lives for something better or had a cause that aligned with his in the way he was most capable of seeking it out. It wasn’t to Aizawa’s liking, but almost nothing Shigaraki did ever was.

Even if he played as though he wasn’t too interested in giving a damn about the “idiots” that Aizawa took in, Aizawa’s (eventual) husband, or Aizawa himself that didn’t mean he fought any less if they were in a bind for their lives, too. It didn’t mean there weren’t reinforcements or people sent just in time to help, or Shigaraki himself if he could get there in time. Shigaraki never had any disillusionment they could ever be friends and he wasn’t looking to replace the “family” he was content with. People like Twice and his jokingly named [League 2.0], the small, small handful who knew him better than anyone else. However, the people of EBL on both sides of the spectrum know well the power of coming together for less selfish ends, despite the expense of not agreeing entirely over the means. Arguments that Shigaraki and Aizawa keep close to their chests and as out of the sight of as many as possible.

Now, at present, with his own command of [misfits] and other [oddities] that, much in a mirror way, he’s collected like his counterpart, he and the new namesake of Kurogiri are off on their way to Synod. They know there are scant few times left in their likely short lives that they could strike and make it count. Having their people in place, having contingencies set about and knowing what they have to do at the cost of whatever lives are lost, they’re doing the one thing that the most brave of all warriors would never do. Something that no one should attempt and anyone who has will tell you the horror stories for generations to come. A vile experience that will take them all the way to Synod and hopefully to land a crippling blow to anyone who wanted to stand in their way. Going under the name “Tenko” to further obscure who he is, Shigaraki undertakes the world's most frightening of campaigns:

A “family” road trip.

“Are we there yet?”
